artwriter Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hello, I'm a Canadian Student, just finishing up a MFA in Visual Art and my BFA was in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have a great GPA, and I have a nice scholarship under my belt that makes my resume look great. I want to move straight into an MA program for next Fall, preferably in Art Theory, Contemp. Art Histry Studies, Contemp. Curatorial Studies, or Art Histry, etc. (With a focus on Modernity onward, not pre-modern). With my MFA I applied to dozens of schools, and got into some big name schools in the USA (without funding), and smaller schools Canada and USA (with funding). In retrospect it was a mistake in applying to the big name schools without fact checking their funding for international students. This time around, I only want to apply to schools that will offer me a package. Does anyone know of any good schools/MA programs that offer funding (small and/or large). I'm looking for universities in CAN, Europe, and USA. The schools don't need to be Ivy (but if so that's ok), just good funding for a Contemporary Art MA (not MFA). Any tips, suggestions? Sites to visit, places to see? Thank you thank you
Lady Gray Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 There are very few MA programs that offer any sort of funding at all. You have probably heard of the master's degree being the "cash cow" for a lot of schools. Awful but true. If self-funding is simply not an option for you, you may want to look at a few PhDs...?
