Struggling to find adequate aid for Grad Prep Courses

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs that someone with a BA might be able to go into which would allow for adequate federal aid (maybe through Grad Plus or other means) to attend upper level undergrad or grad level literature courses without any outside support or savings? I'm having a really hard time starting on the path to a lit PhD or even Masters just because my only local options are expensive / carry no aid options and I'm not really in a position to save much. 

If it's relevant my undergrad GPA is low (~2.9) but all of the English classes I took were As.
