I have just applied to PhD programs in Statistics. These programs are in the T-30 or so, and I would like to get honest feedback on my chances of getting into these programs. Furthermore, I would like advice on how I should proceed if I don't get in this cycle. 

 

Undergrad Stats:

Degree: Statistics Major (International Institute)

Cumulative GPA: 3.71/4.00

Major GPA: 3.85/4.0

Courses Taken (Grade) : (Upper level Math Courses)

Mathematical Analysis I-III (A,A,A-),

Real Analysis (A) , 

Complex Analysis (A),

Topology (A)

 

 

 

Master Stats:

Degree: Applied Mathematics Major (UPenn)

Cumulative GPA:  4.00/4.00

Courses Taken (Grade) : (All Math & Stat PhD courses)

Analysis (A) [Stein Functional Analysis (2/3) + Real Analysis(1/3)]

Partial Differential Equations (A+) [Evans]

Probability Theory (A) [Durrett] 

Stochastic Processes (A) [Durrett + Michael Steel]

Numerical Linear Algebra (A+)

Mathematical Statistics (A+) [Casella & Lehmann]

Asymptotic Statistics (A) [VDV + MJW]

 

Research Experience:

5 papers on arXiv [One is under major revision at EJS; two are reviewed under JMLR; one is ready to submit to AoS; one is ready to submit to JASA]

 

Letters:

2 letters from Wharton: very strong [Have finished three papers with them, two of them are first-authored],

1 letter from Probability course Professor: very strong [famous in probability community],

1 letter from UCL Professor: very strong. [Finished the EJS paper with him, first-author].

Stanford, Harvard, CMU, Duke, Wharton, Chicago, Yale, Rice, NCSU, Berkeley, Columbia, MIT (IDSS), UW, UWM, Cornell, Michigan.
