omega Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I am going to apply CEE in Berkeley, Stanford, MIT. Do a lot of applicant choose MS/PhD over M.S simply to get funding ? ? Do graduate schools give funding like to MS/PHD over M.S ??? MS/PhD is not a commitment for PhD, that is my understanding. I appreciate other opinions on this.

From what I've seen, schools in CS (my field) that have a MS program and a MS/PhD program tend to make the Ms program a terminal one, so if you ultimately want a PhD, you choose the MS/PhD option. It is also my understanding that if people choose a Ms/PhD program it would be because they want to get a PhD after the MS, not because they want to get a MS with funding. omega Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 I heard a lot of M.S got RA in Berkeley and finished school after obtaining M.S. Just curious how they got funding and graduate as a MS ?
