my professor said ucb is better at structural. Geotech is better at uiuc. I got ad to both and i am heading to ucb. lol

i applied ms/phd.

And by the way, UIUC gave me the last data as July 1st to give them reply about if i will go there or not. Should I follow the 4/15 deadline or their deadline ???

ya. so expensive. I saw their first ad in the result section ! dude, thats so wired, they still use postal service in 21 century. i guess they wanna show 125$ mean something. lol

that was tough. I looked over the record of last year. The first ad was given about Feb 23rd, which has passed. I was thinking the next two weeks will be stressful. Btw, I also applied MIT and stanford; do you know some of their situations ? it seems stanford is always late for ads.

hope UCB offers will come to you guys later !! i called UCB yesterday and they told me that at least some offers for every sub branch have sent out. and they told me the process is rolling till mid Apr. From what i've seen, a few offers from civil systems have been posted here, has anyone heard from structural engineering ? does one person handle all branches or one professor from one branch handle it independently ? :blink:

Hi, everyone. I have one question about the amount of fund that i can put in the application page. Do you guys think this really matters in application process ? If i put more than i have, will the comittee not consider my financial assistance that i request ? on the other hand, if i put less than what i have, will they reject my application simply because they won't offer not enough financial assistance or they just assume that i can not afford it ? I need to make a huge amount of loans if i go to graduate school without financial offer. Just curious about this. Thanks for all the opinions.

Hi, I am going to apply MIT as well, but in a different field. I think your SOP is a little bit long, about 1000 words. I think cutting facts professors already knew and talking about yourself and connection to MIT is very necessary.

I am going to apply Graduate School with fellowships. Do I need to submit transcript which includes this semester ? If so, grades won't be there until the end the deadline, which i heard it may have an effect on application ? Appreciate any input .

I am going to apply CEE in Berkeley, Stanford, MIT. Do a lot of applicant choose MS/PhD over M.S simply to get funding ? ? Do graduate schools give funding like to MS/PHD over M.S ??? MS/PhD is not a commitment for PhD, that is my understanding. I appreciate other opinions on this.

I think this is very helpful and thoughful. I appreciate this. My language is lacklusker. I think i will start from there.

I agree mentioning both possibility of in the SOP while stating a strong passion towards research. I think i am going to start from there.

I think M.S and M.Eng are parallel degrees; i talked to a few people and many suggested me to do M.S. Only not because company always highly considers M.S, also, M.S probably will have funding.
