The surest indicator of a great nation is represented not by the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists, but by the general welfare of its people.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

I would claim that the surest indicator of a great nation is the achievements of its rulers, artists, sport persons and scientists.

A great nation is one which has a rich history and heritage. History has often shown us that the people are the one who shape the world. Without them the history of their countries could have been different.

Rulers from the past who wielded great powers are greatly responsible for their countrie's greatness. Their laws, ideas and dreams are the one which has changed the country's fate. One great example is king Ashoka of India. His ideas and laws are the one which led to the creation of buddhism and made the countries of India and China a great nations. Like king Ashoka numerous rulers from the ancient and contemporary times have changed the fate of the world. Another example is Adolf hitler whose laws and Ideals made Germany infamous and hated. Hence, rulers are responsible for the "greatness" of their nations.

Likewise the rulers, artists and scientists also have made their countries great through their nations. Research has shown that countries with successful scientists have great scientific developments. The success stories of scientists and artists has inspired millions of young minds and youth to purse the field. This created a revolution which has altered the history of nations greatly. The history of United States of America is a great example for this. The number of noble prizes America obtained is a testimony to this claim.

Rulers, artists, scientists influence the greatness of a nation, but this should not cover up the well being of the people of the nation. The greatness of some people is the nation will defenitely influence the others, but not in all cases.

Hence, the indicator of the greatness of a nation is the achievements of the Rulers, artists, scientists and other great people who have shaped their country's future greatly.
