Project Proposal for Masters in Journalism

Hello,

I am in the midst of applying for a Masters in Journalism. The statement of purpose has specific questions and one is to provide a brief overview of a project I would be interested in pursuing if accepted to the program. Currently, I am working on launching a specifically targeted magazine and was wondering if it is okay to propose working on something that is already in the process and to mention that it is so in the statement?

I think I would be able to better achieve to achieve this project research by pursuing a Masters in Journalism.

Would love some insight!

I think as long as you frame your project in terms of a research question with the goal of producing original scholarship, then you'd be okay with that. So, you might say something like:

My research interest is X.

I am so interested in interest X that I am currently _describe project here_

While in your program, I would extend this line of inquiry by_describe how your project fits as research that addresses the research interest stated above.

Etc. Etc.

Just make sure that it doesn't sound like this:

I am interested in X.

I would like to use your resources to get my mini-business off the ground.
