cyclechicster Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Hi all! I'm thinking of pursuing a PhD in urban ed policy, starting in fall '25 or '26, but I'm concerned about job prospects once I'm finished. I'm well aware of tenure-track positions disappearing at universities, so I'm wondering about other options. What are y'all seeing in terms of research positions (e.g. think tanks or offices of ed) or career options for ed policy? What kind of keywords are you using? Thanks! I appreciate the help.
t_ruth Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Ed is one of the fields that has an easier time getting a job outside of academia. Ed programs often have strong quant training, which opens up options there too. I definitely have former students and colleagues working in school districts, government agencies, think tanks, non-profits, curriculum developers, etc...
