Another Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Not much more to say: I'm just excited to submit my first application to UC Berkeley this Tuesday (12/14/10). They're so early that even if I don't get accepted, it's been a great motivator to get everything done. Now I feel like I'm a couple weeks ahead of schedule for the rest of my applications. This is it!
fineartstef Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I submitted that yesterday! Yay! I also feel ahead of the game now.
Another Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 It's done. Since UC Berkeley is so early, I wonder if their results are going to come back sooner than the other schools. I remember seeing mention of late January/February for notification. Do you guys know how much time you have to make your decision if you're accepted? I'm worried that I might be forced to decide before I even hear back from the other programs I'm applying to (like USC which isn't even due until Feb 1). If I manage to get into Berkeley, it's going to make my decision really complicated.
michaelwebster Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Schools usually all use the same date of when you have to make your decision, April 15, and many are required to do so if they signed the council of graduate schools resolution. http://www.cgsnet.org/Default.aspx?tabid=201 you can find the info in the link above. Some schools may break the rules, like UNC Greensboro, they signed the resolution, but then the art dept rushes you into deciding a month before the date. If a school signed it and then goes back and asks for you to reply earlier, contact their dean of graduate studies and tell them you will make your decision by April 15, not when they want you to. Alot of private schools aren't on this list, like SAIC, but most schools use this date anyway.
