HELP! What is the Yale due date? Today or Tomorrow?

I have been assuming Yale MFA apps were due before tomorrow at Midnight, but now I am worried that they may be due tonight at midnight b/c of confusing wording. On the site it says:

"APPLICATION DEADLINE: ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR PROGRAMS BEGINNING IN THE 2011-2012ACADEMIC YEAR MUST BE UPLOADED BY 12 MIDNIGHT EST ON JANUARY 5, 2011."

http://art.yale.edu/Admissions

That would technically be tonight at midnight, right?

But on the online application itself it says:

"Applications must be submitted online before January 6."

https://apply.art.yale.edu/apply/

Which is it?!

Thanks.

... These both say the same thing. By January 5 at midnight = before January 6. I get confused by all the tonight/tomorrow talk, because I'm in another time zone, but AFAICT, you have to submit before January 6 starts, i.e. January 5 at 23:59:59 EST.

ETA: Now January does not look like word anymore to me.

Tonight by midnight eastern time. I received an email from Yale that reminded applicants to try to upload their images before today due to the slow speed of the server with so many people uploading last minute. It might not be processed until tomorrow but they said they'd make an exception if the images are uploaded today but don't go through until tomorrow. But try to avoid this and get things in early. I have everything uploaded other than my statement - doing last minute revisions. I'm not clear on where/what size they want the representative image included in the one page statement. if it should be a small thumb or included on a second page - my statement takes up the entire one page. Are they just looking at the statement and glancing at the one image when they review, then if interested look at your actual portfolio? or is this for future reference after looking at your portfolio? My work doesn't show up well in a small thumb either way. I didn't want it to be a problem to include a second page with a decent sized image to go along with my statement. thoughts?

Are you by chance looking at an old copy of the bulletin? Previous years had the "include rep image on statement" language, but I didn't see it this year. The portfolio interface has a checkbox for the representative image, so I saw no reason to include it on the statement itself.

NB: this is my first time applying, but I've been keeping track ;)

I did a search and couldn't find anything specific to it on here.

It said on a section of the website to include the image on your statement and then the application it said to make sure to check the box for the image as well. I just didn't want to include a second page with an image if it will possibly disqualify my application...but i dont know how they would expect us to fit an image on a statement that takes up the page. It would have to be a super small image and you can't tell what it is. They can always refer back to your work. Most schools I've talked to say they project the images, two at time, and go through it that way. And then look at the statement if the work is strong. I wasn't sure if Yale has a different process of looking at the statement with one image first and if it isn't strong, the just go "next" and not even look at your other images? Seems images, then statement would be the order of importance. I just want to make sure everything is correct.

I was going to have it all in last week but am behind on everything due to my busy work schedule. I'll have my statement done by this evening at the latest. I hate being rushed! But I still have time to write my other statements and not be last minute. :/

Hi guys, I'm applying to Yale (painting) too (probably with 500+ others). Did you guys write anything on the description box? I don't feel like describing anything more, I already wrote about what my work is about in my statement. Is it okay to leave the description box blank?

No I didn't write anything....except for on one to say it was an installation/drawing. Your statement describes your work.

Ah! It makes sense to me now. I was wondering, as I've been uploading images why, when you edit the image info, there is a little check box to the right that says "representational image." I assume it's kind of like a facebook photo album, where you check that box for the one image you want to be the album cover, except in this case they will put it with your statement when it is reviewed...glad i read this. thanks guys

Even with weeks of work, my application came down to the final seconds.

My hands were shaking as I was typing my credit card information.

This stuff is for the birds.

I just realized that I didn't check the box for my representational image, does anyone know if the application will be discarded?
