Anoushka Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 For 3 programs I'm applying to I cant find the statement of interest word limit anywhere!! I think they don't have a limit. Do you think that staying within 950-1000 is appropriate, or should I cut it down to 800?

I wouldn't worry about whether it is 800 or 1,000 words, just use whichever one is the stronger statement.
Bukharan Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) I agree with the last statement. If the word limit is not indicated, it is probably advisable not to exceed 1000 words. However, do not feel obliged to fill the space. If you can write a good SOP in 500-800 words, it is great! Edited January 7, 2011 by Bukharan

Usually 750 word limit is adequate to express what it is you want to do. I have always kept my statement of interest or letter of intent at around 750 words.
