sociology applicant 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I've been charged twice by a university I applied to and I'm not sure what to do. I've talked to the director of admissions, and they have refused to refund me. I have earlier written proof from their university verifying that my fee was received and I would not be charged again. How can they do this? What are my rights here? Who can I talk to?
university99 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 If you used a credit card, dispute the duplicate charge with the credit card company! Don't worry about your chances at getting in being affected, the admissions office where this goes on is probably in a separate building from the program you're applying to and chances are the people have never even seen each other in their lives. aginath and Tex 2
Viking Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 The above-poster is right. Just call your credit card company and say the charge is an incorrect, duplicate charge. The credit card company will waive the charge unless the school disputes the bill. Considering the school has no reason to charge you twice, it has no grounds on which to dispute the second charge.
phusion Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Have you tried the campus Cashier's (or Bursar's) office? In my experience the admissions office doesn't process fees and stuff. Good luck!
