stilrsnation Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Sorry to hear those who got "declination" letters. Still no word - though mail hasn't come yet today. D2...any others out there? Anyone know if these latest round of reviews sound like the internal review? Would we know?
outdoorathon Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Evolve--- I was just curious when you got the rejection letter for Global Change. Seems some went out in mid-Aprilish, wondering if they are putting out another round on rejections before they begin offering Sounds like you had a strong proposal. Congrats on the NSF! Rejected - Global Change FON. 3 Excellents for intellectual merit. 1 Excellent and 2 Very Goods for broader implications. Not a single negative comment from any of the 3 reviewers - yet rejection! In retrospect I should have focused more on broader implications. Oh well, I got the NSF GRFP - so I can't complain. Good luck to the rest of you!
JumpingJack Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 If anyone has heard, could you post (anonymously of course)? It'd be nice to know if they have started offering! charliebitmyfinger Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Hello all, I just today received an email indicating that I have been accepted and will receive the star fellowship (pending official paperwork). I applied to one of the ecosystem services categories and am on the West Coast. Beginning PhD. Very excited. A question - anyone know if you are required to do research on the topic your essay was on? My research interests have changed somewhat since back in the fall... This is my first post, btw. If anyone has heard, could you post (anonymously of course)? It'd be nice to know if they have started offering!
stilrsnation Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Congratulations! I wonder what that means for the rest of us.....out here still wondering. Oh and don't know on changing the topic, sorry. beemn Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I just received a very brief call from the EPA indicating that my application was recommended for funding. They confirmed my email address and said I would receive further instructions later today. I applied under J1: Aquatic Ecosystem Services.

itsavailable Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi all, I haven't heard anything either. i do still think there is lots of hope! the announcement said that declinations would go out in April and May and awardees would be notified by May 30th. While I find it hard to believe anyone will be working at EPA on memorial day (the 30th), it is possible that they will continue to notify on monday. Also, I have heard of no one else being declined over the last week by mail. So i guess I am hoping that those that haven't heard will be awarded shortly. (wishful thinking perhaps!). I doubt they will continue declining people through June (although I guess it is possible). Just thought I would share some positive thinking on this issue.
tomato328 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I'm also D2 on the east coast and have not heard anything yet. however, I've been out of town this last week so not sure if a rejection letter has made its way into my mailbox ...

JumpingJack Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Hi, I still haven't heard either for A2. Thanks for all the posts, it's good to know that they are doing the offering.... and also that I'm not the only one still waiting D2, also on the east coast. No call, no email yet... stilrsnation Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 no movement over the weekend. just called tthe "ncer hotline" listed on the application page - left a voicemail message for one of the "hotline operators" to get back to me. Won't hold my breath, though it's hard.
