Hi everyone! Thought I'd start a thread for this application cycle. It's always nice to have a couple of people to shout into the void with.

Feel free to share where you are in the application process. I'm currently preparing my application for a master's program and hoping to submit sometime in mid-late december. Also been obsessing over acceptance rates and whatnot.

What about y'all?

Hi there @foxmulder! Nice to see someone else applying to Stanford. I'm applying again, and will be re-applying for the POLS program for a masters. Glad to find some community here!

Are you applying to any other programs? I'm applying to HGSE as well, and thinking of adding 1-2 more.

:) Nice to find a new friend here :)

Hey @Here2Teach!

I was considering some other programs in California. UCSC, UCI, and UCLA. I'm going for a Masters in Education + teaching credential. HGSE has a great teacher education program but I want to stay as local as possible. I didn't realize how competitive it was until I went down the rabbit hole.

I applied to a diff grad program during my last year of undergrad but I was rejected. Taken some years to get some professional experience.

Yayyyy. :) Glad to know I have a friend here.

I applied to the RILE program at Stanford GSE but haven't heard anything from the program 😢. I searched the forum but it seems that there are no posts about it yet.

I haven't heard anything about interviews from Stanford yet either. I know in previous years they have released them 1-2 weeks after MLK day so it is close.

I did receive an interview from Vanderbilt (PhD in education policy) last week so other universities have started setting up interviews.

Anyone else waiting for a PhD interview? Seems like this week is the week.

I am waiting for my Ph.D. process status. Which program or specialization did you apply for?

Does anyone know if there will be interviews for the Education PhD program this year? I asked the admissions office, but their response didn't provide any additional information beyond what is already on the website.

What exactly did the admissions office say to you? From what Gradcafe has said historically, most people who get accepted get an interview. A few rare cases get accepted without one.

Here is their reply:

You can read more about our application timeline here: Apply for Admission | Stanford Graduate School of Education. We do not have any official interview process. If one of our faculty readers wants to know more about your application, they will reach out to you directly during the process.

Has no one even so much as received an informal phone call yet? It seems like no one on Reddit or GradCafe has even heard a peep from Stanford about education PhDs.

Most of the programs don't do formal interviews! This link tells you exactly which ones might do interviews and in what capacity.

Also from last years, it seems like decisions go out the second or third week of February :)

Hey everyone,

Applied for the SHIPS Higher Ed PhD. Any updates on interviews? Did anyone reach out to their POI?

I think if POI is interested in us, then they may contact us for more info. Otherwise, it is pointless or may be disturbed.
