blunderbuss Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread devoted to this topic for this application cycle. Since it is somewhat niche, I thought this might be the best place to get in touch with other applicants. So far I've applied to: - Indiana - Yale - Chicago (MAPH, two year language option) - George Washington University (Elliott School of International Affairs) - Columbia University Will apply to: - Georgetown (MA in Russian/Eurasian studies, also applying to computational linguistics MA) - NYU Would love to hear from anyone else applying. Columbia is probably my top choice. I am currently doing an AmeriCorps gap year before grad school, btw.
joenotexotic Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Hey, I applied to Columbia and Georgetown out of your list. Plus, REECA at Harvard's Davis Center. What is your main area of research interest?
blunderbuss Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 (edited) @joenotexotic Nationality policy in the Soviet Union is my main historical focus. Through a master's, I am hoping to gain more expertise in contemporary Russia and Central Asia. Edited January 17 by blunderbuss tagged user joenotexotic 1
Ralya Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Hi folks, I applied to Stanford's REES and Harvard's REECA. Received notification I was admitted to Stanford yesterday, and interviewed with Harvard in January. Good luck! Amazona and joenotexotic 2
Amazona Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Hi everyone! I’ve applied to University of Washington’s REECAS and Carleton University’s EURUS MA programs. So far no news. joenotexotic 1
joenotexotic Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Did anyone get an interview invite from Harriman or Toronto? Have a nice day blunderbuss 1

We are in a bleak period of the cycle. According to forum posts from 2018 they seem to interview soon before decisions are released in early March joenotexotic 1
ripeandrune Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Has anyone heard anything from Yale? Late Feb - early March seems to be the standard, but I'm refreshing my email about 15x a day waiting!
blunderbuss Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 No news from Yale or Harriman. I've considered emailing, but I don't know if it's worth it joenotexotic 1
joenotexotic Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Yeah, I was also considering it and refrained for the same reason. And Lisa Gordinier's email on the admissions results date only convinced me further lol
Lavinia Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Someone posted REECA acceptance on Gradcafe. Seems like we should be hearing back today/tomorrow

joenotexotic Posted February 28 Posted February 28 nothing for me yet from any program. i know that some ppl were accepted to Toronto but it is on rolling bases there till late april, so there is some hope, even though not much
Amazona Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Hi everyone. I got accepted to both schools I mentioned earlier EURUS (Carleton Uni, Canada) with some funding and REECAS of University of Washington (no mention of funding). I’m just searching the forum and it seems to be pretty normal that US schools not offering funding for MA area studies programs??
