For those applying to graduate programs in history in the fall of 2024.

Well, it has been a year. I am halfway through my MA, and now I have to start applying once again for PhD programs this time. But of course, first, we must email all our potential advisors. I had the worst email format last time and refuse to reuse it, so does anyone have a good template they use?

And now I'm applying to all history programs lol. Conversations with potential advisers and the process of writing SOPs made it clear where my true interests lie. Wish me luck. I have no idea what to expect

Hi Everyone, I did an interview at Rice recently. I didn't write any potential advisors but I got an interview. Does it means say anything about my chances?

I am an international student and in 2023 was accepted to a Masters program of a Canadian university. I went to the country, met with my supervisors and everything was going ok but, for personal reasons, I had to withdraw and return home, even before classes started. I asked for a deferral, but one of the profs would go on sabatical for research, and wouldn't accept new students.

I then decided to apply again for a similar Masters program of another university (Fall 2025). When contacting a potential supervisor, I explained what happened last year, attaching the other university offer as an evidence.

The professor was nice to me but I am wondering if the fact that I withdrew last year could harm my chances of being accepted...

Is anyone there who was in a similar situation, or know someone who did? Do you happen to know how departments or admissions comittees see this? Is it likely that they will talk to the professors of the other institution?

Hi all! I know the Yale interview thing is an old topic. But I'm wondering if not receiving a Yale interview at this point means rejection or at least not a good sign?

i'm struggling with the waiting - i heard from three programs all on the same day (2A, 1R), and have had a few interviews with another program, but it's been radio silence for a while. has anybody heard anything from northwestern?

formal rejection for me just a portal update. it was the history of science program

FWIW, just received the heads up from Northwestern that I was waitlisted.
