coconutmacaroon Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Does anyone have any information on when the results will be released? I am assuming they have to give us an answer by tomorrow (April 30). This is so painful. Jim VK and Emma.R 2
Emma.R Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) Nothing yet, I'm still in peer review. I hope more people join here Edited April 30 by Emma.R typo coconutmacaroon 1
coconutmacaroon Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Do you know if we will receive an email once our status is updated? I assume so but I have never gotten this far for CGS-D yet.
Lou0629 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 We do usually receive an email! When I received the results last year it was around lunch time... I hope they send the results today, this is so distracting 😅
bedhead Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I received an email about responding to my award offer, but no updates to my research net. I assume that’s good news?? 😭

This is beyond frustrating!
coconutmacaroon Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 I just read on Reddit post that someone called CIHR and they sent that email to EVERYONE. they said to check researchnet around 4-5 pm EST.

coconutmacaroon Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 I just receive my notice of decision email...I am so scared to check it.
GutPhD Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) I got it! They also provided a lot more committee feedback than I heard others get in past years which is very helpful. Does anyone know what the score is out of? edit: I looked it up like a researcher should… it’s out of 4.9 😅 Edited April 30 by GutPhD
bedhead Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Congrats to all those who were successful! And everyone else, don't beat yourself up, the peer review process can be unfair and it doesn't make you any less of a researcher.
Idiopathic Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I am going to copy and paste a post I made on Reddit. I’m hoping maybe one of you might be able to help me figure out where my interpretation has gone wrong. Hello all, For my fellow Canadian PhD students, I hope you received either good news or useable feedback to improve your CGSD applications. My results were somewhat confusing and even my supervisor who has received some form of CIHR funding for about 30 years couldn’t understand it, nor could other graduate students who have applied and won CIHR CGSD in the past. Therefore, I am reaching out to you internet strangers for some feedback. To start, my application was “not approved.” Both reviewers were complimentary, with no real feedback to strengthen my application. I scored 4.3/4.9 on my reviews. In my pool my application ranked #115, and in the bottom right of the decision letter it indicates in my pool, 115 applications were approved. Can someone with more experience chime in on how I must be interpreting these results inaccurately? Thank you
Okease9 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) I got the email and ended up receiving the award. CIHR posted the following on Twitter which makes me wonder if only successful applicants received it, and that CIHR hit send too soon? Someone I know didn’t get the email nor the award it seems like. “Attention CIHR Doctoral Award applicants: You may have received a Notice of Decision email before ResearchNet had been updated. The information in the email regarding your funding status is correct and ResearchNet will be updated shortly to match. Apologies for the confusion.” Edited May 1 by Okease9

It was my first time applying and although I did rank high and receive it, I was still hoping for more feedback lol Edited May 1 by Okease9
ConfusedPHDForever Posted May 1 Posted May 1 For others that got their CIHR accepted, would you be willing to share their feedback and submission? Privately and with personal information removed. I feel I got very unfairly rated with really terrible explanations for the weaknesses based on how low I was rated and just want to see what a funded application looked like.
Hope466 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) Anyone else thinking delulu thoughts of potentially getting an award if they increase the # this year as announced?.... lol Edited May 5 by Hope466
AGraduates_diary Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Not delulu at all. Depending on how you ranked, you might get an offer b/c a lot of those who get Vanier also get CGSD and end up declining their CGSD offer.
