Does anyone know if ORPAS releases sgpa calculations today?

I checked the 2024 thread and it showed they released it on Feb 5. For some reason, I also think I saw that in 2021 as well. Maybe they choose the same date every year? I have to find the 2023 and 2022 threads to find out :) Good luck everyone!!!

Hi all! I've been lurking the thread but for some reason haven't been able to actually... post on GradCafe forums until today. Anyways, happy to be here and good luck to everyone! I hope you're all pleased with your sub GPAs... mine is a bit higher than I had calculated myself, so I'm relieved. I was impressed by Mac's program preview, so with a good subgpa I'm eager to have a shot :)

Speaking of - do we know when MMI invites tend to go out? I know the site says February, but not sure if that means waiting til the very end of the month haha.

Hey all! Someone had a really good question on the SLP discord server and I thought I’d ask here too: my top choice currently is UofA, but I’m taking a course to fulfill prereqs for Western in case it doesn't work out. If I get accepted, do I have to maintain my exact GPA in order to still be considered? For instance, if it dropped from the 3.7 I applied with to a 3.6, could I hypothetically have an offer revoked? I’ll try my best in the course of course.

First, are you able to share the link to the discord chat for SLP? Im really interested in being apart of that as well as this. As for your question, I would say maybe they send a conditional offer? I remember seeing somewhere for Dalhousie's applications that you have to send a final transcript in the springtime if you are accepted to show your marks in those courses that were in progress, so maybe it would be a similar situation for western? You could always email them; they're pretty quick at answering any questions (at least in my experience). Hopefully that made sense, lol. Sorry I couldnt be more help

That’s all good! I’m not able to send the discord server link here — I tried once but it was blocked by mods and I don’t know who the mods are so I can’t contact them. If you go onto the Ualberta subreddit, I made a post called “Server for those interested in SLP graduate programs for 2025”, it’s on there.

conditional offers differ by schools but usually it’s not about maintaining your current gpa but rather a gpa in a specific range (usually B or B+) if there is a minimum required grade for pre-reqs you have to meet that (eg., uoft would need a B+ in all pre-reqs in progress). Western doesn’t have a cut off for pre-reqs but in general, aim for a B and above.

So excited to get an MMI! How's everyone planning on prepping? Would you say it's pretty similar to CASPER?

Congrats! I'm personally having a hard time finding SLP related MMI prep questions, but I watched McMaster SLP's virtual information session (the recording is posted on their website under the "dates" section if you're interested!) and they recommended just googling MMI prep questions and practicing those to get a feel for the style of questions. They also said they won't ask any questions relating to your experiences or anything too specific about SLP. It's mainly to see how you think critically and communicate. I also think I might try to use ChatGPT to generate some practice questions, but I think I'll mainly just practice questions on google and also look into current issues in healthcare

Looking to apply next year, for everyone who got an interview invite, would you mind sharing your subGPA/stats for reference of cut off this year?

I didn't apply to McMaster this year, but based on another forum I'm on, it seems that the cutoff sGPA this year was 3.84!

Thanks! I'll check out that info session to see what they have to say. That's good to know it's not too SLP specific and probably more ethics, critical thinking stuff. ChatGPT was super helpful for the CASPER so I'd definitely recommend! You can even speak into it and it will give you feedback.

Thank you for your response! I’ll make sure to maintain a B or above. I think my bigger worry is my last 60 credits will be lower which could affect my admission (if let’s say I get a letter of acceptance, and then my gpa is lower now than my application gpa). Do you know anything about that side of things?

Hi!

Would those who have a McMaster MMI like to form an ig group chat to help each other prepare for it? I am looking for study buddies. :)

Also, could you let me know about group chats on any platform to do with SLP or audiology applications, please?

A few questions for previous or current applicants, please:

1. Where can I find good examples of MMI questions geared more towards SLP? I am mainly only finding questions geared towards medical students. Would you be willing to share some examples of similar questions you were asked during your interview?

2. The interview is online. Do you know if there will be group scenarios where multiple applicants work on a task together or all have to respond to a prompt?

3. What are the role-play scenarios about? Are they checking to see if applicants show compassion, for example?

4. Any other advice to help those of us who are stressed about the interview?

Thank you!

My subGPA was 3.92. I had some summer courses strewn in and they ended up looking at my 15 most recent courses (mix of full and half credits) + my average from 2022 (I graduated 2024).
