Hi!

Would those who have a McMaster MMI like to form an ig group chat to help each other prepare for it? I am looking for study buddies. :)

Also, could you let me know about group chats on any platform to do with SLP or audiology applications, please?

A few questions for previous or current applicants, please:

1. Where can I find good examples of MMI questions geared more towards SLP? I am mainly only finding questions geared towards medical students. Would you be willing to share some examples of similar questions you were asked during your interview?

2. The interview is online. Do you know if there will be group scenarios where multiple applicants work on a task together or all have to respond to a prompt?

3. What are the role-play scenarios about? Are they checking to see if applicants show compassion, for example?

4. Any other advice to help those of us who are stressed about the interview?

Thank you!

Hi!!! Previous applicant here who had a successful MMI last year. PM me! :)

Hey everyone!

Super excited to have gotten an MMI invite this year! I also applied to UofT's SLP program this year, does anyone know if they have an interview as part of the admissions process?

Congrats on the MMI! Only McMaster has interviews. I know it says on the UofT website that there might be interviews but they mentioned that it's only in extenuating circumstances that they will interview people

My subGPA was 3.92. I had some summer courses strewn in and they ended up looking at my 15 most recent courses (mix of full and half credits) + my average from 2022 (I graduated 2024).

I would join a chat for MMI prep :)

Hi, SpeechONHopeful!

Sounds good! I messaged you privately. :)

Hey all! I got an invite for an MMI with Mac this year and I'm super stoked. I was wondering if anyone here who was successful with their MMIs would be interested in discussing with me how it went and what to expect? I really appreciate any help you can provide!

Thank you for your response! I’ll make sure to maintain a B or above. I think my bigger worry is my last 60 credits will be lower which could affect my admission (if let’s say I get a letter of acceptance, and then my gpa is lower now than my application gpa). Do you know anything about that side of things?

final gpa doesn’t matter as long as it still meets program requirements and any conditions

Hi,

Congrats on getting an interview! I want to join a group chat to help each other. I am having the same trouble finding MMI questions that are geared more towards SLP.

Let me know if a group has been created!

Will McGill tell us what our GPA is? I know they use cumulative so I was wondering if they provide that information

1. You won't find any as the questions are not SLP related. Adapt the pre-med questions as much as you can or just stick to more general type questions (ethical considerations for example). CASPER questions are good for prep. All interviwees sign an NDA so examples of "similar" questions can't (and shouldn't be) shared really. A lot of people have been mentioning using ChatGPT but there are also a lot of free resources for situation-based interviews.

2. Everything will be individual

3. Your thought process and displaying general skills (not jumping to conclusions for example). These are good to practice but will most likely not be on the actual interview since you only have a few minutes at each station and with just one interviewer + they have to take notes and score you.

4. Practice speaking to a camera and ordering your thoughts! Become more familar with the process (how many stations, the timing etc). If possible, practice with a timer and give yourself a bit less time than youd be given. You don't want to use up the entire speaking time as some questions have follow ups.

Hope this kinda helps!

Does anyone know the average gpa of people who have previously heard back from Dal in March?

Wondering the same! Is an earlier acceptance based on GPA, residency, thesis track, or something else?

From what I’ve seen in other forums people who have been accepted are not from out east & have not completed the thesis track. I’m just not sure about GPA!

Hello

Does anyone know of anyone who has gotten to one of the schools requiring the casper test (ex. U of A) with a score in the 1st quartile?

Actually, someone posted their stats on the 2024 prep thread on June 15th. They got off the waitlist for UofA and had a 1st quartile score.

For those who got their Casper results back today (or previously)- are you happy with your quartile?

I was really nervous this year! It was so hard to tell people how I thought I did because I really had no idea. I ended up in 3rd quartile, so I'm a bit relieved. I could have definitely done better, but I will take it and RUN! Haha :)

Hi there! I’m hoping to apply to slp programs next year but I’m kind of confused about how ualberta assesses your gpa. It says on their website that you need a minimum 3.3 gpa to be considered, but how do they calculate the gpa because I couldn’t find any grade conversions online?

Posted

The University of Alberta uses a 4.0 scale, so a 3.3/4.0, meaning a B+ average or higher. And your GPA calculation will be based off your most recent 60 credits.

Posted

Hi thanks so much for your reply! Do you know what percentage grade a 3.3/B+gpa would be at ualberta? My school has 75-79% as a B+, but I’m unsure if ualberta considers it the same.

I got 4th quartile! I was super nervous because I didn't have time to finish one video question and didn't finish a few of the written questions as well.
