Guest Posted September 9 Share Posted September 9 Hi - I'm looking to apply for my MS in Biostatistics and was wondering if anyone can help me select some generally reasonable schools to apply to based on my stats. Undergrad Institution: Public Ivy Major(s): Statistics and Data Science GPA: 3.93 Overall Type of Student: asian male GRE General Test: --not taking Programs Applying: MS in Biostatistics -- Data Science emphasis Research Experience: Working with stats department for disparity research in public health Working with geography department for spatial epidemiology analysis (vaccines) Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Full funding for study abroad term Pertinent Activities or Jobs: 3 consecutive internships at large companies (mastercard, etc) for data science roles, also ULA one semester Letters of Recommendation: "Very strong" letter from my manager at internship Anticipating strong letter from advisor for study abroad scholarship program Decent letter from grad level stats professor Math/Statistics Grades: Mathematics: B in mutlivariable calc and linear but otherwise A's in sci. programming, intro data sci, discrete math, sampling theory, optimization, probability for data science, simulation analytics, data models and inference, econometrics, macroeconoimcs, microeconomics, a- in methods of data anlysis, time series, etc (taking stochastic processes and statistical computing for data science currently) Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help: sop will be strong, committed to shifting from corporate experiences and researching public health in my home country/nearby regions.
