I recently took the GRE and scored 161Q/164V. I am interested in Biostats/Stats PhD programs and I have good coursework in math and stats -- this quant score looks odd. Is this bad enough that I should avoid sending my GRE?

Furthermore, if I take the mGRE and score well, would this change how my GRE is viewed? How many schools even require/want to see the GRE or mGRE anymore?

If GRE is optional, I probably would not send math scores below 165.

I don't see much of an advantage to taking the math GRE if the school doesn't require it - I bet most people don't even know how to interpret the scores.  Obviously if you can get a near-perfect score, it would probably look good,  but if your math grades are good, I'd let them speak for themselves.
