PhD in American studies?

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask who is applying to a PhD in American Studies program for the Fall 2025 cycle. 
 

What other disciplines are you pursuing as well? I’m looking at American studies programs that have a strong Latinx studies focus!

That is awesome, I hope you get into your desired programs! 

I was looking at Boston University, but they are not doing admissions this year unfortunately:/ so my next top choice programs are NYU and Brown.

What other programs are you looking into?

I have a friend who is applying to Harvard that is stressed out as well. Sending virtual hugs to all those stressed!

My list is wild, I don't even know what I was thinking lol

My programs of choice are under one of the following disciplines: English/American Literature, African American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Cultural Studies.

I cannot wait until this waiting period is over. It feels like a mental splinter that I can't get out fast enough.

I'm Applying to a few American Studies programs! Second year in my MA rn and this will be my Third PhD cycle (hopefully this last lol)!

I had an American Studies interview with UMN. I also applied to two Ivys for AS- no news yet.

Got an interview request to NYU AS this morning. Anyone else? Time slots are only 15 minutes so I'm not sure what to expect from the interview itself.

None from me, but after looking through the acceptance dates of the programs I applied to, I believe things should really be starting to pick up tomorrow

Interviewing with NYU on Friday, hoping I hear news from them soon after that. Feels like a really good faculty fit based on my research interests.

As I suspected, I got word back today. And as I also expected (lol), I got a UMN waitlist email. This year is their smallest cohort (budget constraints) in at least 10 years

I also applied to the Jurisprudence and Social Policy program at Berkeley, other than that just American Studies programs.
