Oakes83Phd Posted May 22 Posted May 22 0 In my PhD program, I passed one course with the minimum grade of 6 on a scale from 0 to 10, which follows the Brazilian grading system. Given the variation in grading systems across countries (for example, minimum passing grades of 6, 5, or even 60%), might a PhD diploma be questioned or considered not equivalent in the US due to having a minimum passing grade below what is typically considered acceptable in the US system? I’ve read that, at the PhD level, the evaluation process usually focuses more on factors such as: the academic level and structure of the program, the recognition of the awarding institution, and the originality or quality of the dissertation, rather than on individual course grades. Is this understanding correct?
