Profile Evaluation - American Politics

I was unsure about which PhD I wanted to pursue, but am now leaning towards political science. Would love to get any and all realistic feedback and advice on how to improve my standing as an applicant. 

Undergraduate: I attended a STEM-heavy university and majored in Political Science, so the small size of the program presented limited research opportunities. 3.9 GPA. Instead of a Senior Paper, the school had us take an exit exam instead. I had some experience working on political campaigns during the 2020 and 2022 election cycles. 

Graduate: I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (high school social studies) from Duke and completed a capstone project based in mixed-methods research, but is focused on on public schools and is ~4,000 words. 4.0 GPA

Currently: I am teaching government and economics classes to 10th-12th graders. I've had small publications and opportunities to present, but all have been in the realm of K-12 education.

GRE: 159V 161Q 5.0AWA

Dream program would be Duke/UNC, but would be happy anywhere with funding. I am most interested in elections and political behavior/institutions, and I am planning to apply next winter. What should I do over the next year to give me the best chances?
