How does the waitlist work?

Hi everyone, I was interviewed for AU’s Communication PhD and was recently placed on the waitlist. I’m trying to understand how AU’s waitlist typically works.

For those who have been through the process in past years:

• How many people are usually waitlisted?

• Is the waitlist a soft rejection, or do people actually get admitted from it?

• How much movement have you seen in previous cycles?

• Does AU tend to use the waitlist because of yield?
