Late april 1-on-1 PI interview, thoughts?

After receiving admission in an MS Engineering program from an R2 institution in January, I cold emailed PIs for RA spot. 

In late April, I was invited for an interview, citing that the PI has one spot in his lab. The interview went well. I talked about my background, thesis, my alignment with his lab, and proposed a research idea (luckily, which the PI is thinking about). One thing he was unsure about was that my undergraduate degree was different, so he asked for transcripts. To prove I had the necessary coursework, I provided my syllabus outline as well. He thanked me for sharing the additional information and told me he would let me know when a decision is made. (During the interview, he said he will let me know in a few days). 

It's been a week, and I followed up today, but no response. This was my only interview and my only shot for an RA slot this cycle. The fit is good and aligned, thus I am committed to being there. The anxiety of waiting is brutal. 

As an international, I have to manage visa and everything if I get the spot, thus I wanted clarification asap. Thoughts on such late interviews?
