coffeecoffeebuzzbuzz Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I am currently in a nice non-frozen part of the US, but I have multiple grad school interviews in the midwest with travel starting next week... I just looked at the weather and the news reports describing a massive blizzard that i approaching that is likely to be one of the worst in history. Now I have this deep sense of doom (added on top of my interview jitters). I fear that the interviews will be canceled or worse I get stuck somewhere in route between here and there. Anyone else dealing with unexpected change of events?

Anyone else dealing with unexpected change of events? You said you don't start travel until next week. What's the issue? It'll be done snowing by Wednesday, major roads and any delayed flights will be dealt with by Friday, things are back to normal by the weekend.
neshmi Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 clearly if you talking about moving from somewhere warm to somewhere prone to blizzards.... i'd rethink my applications!!! we're on blizzard watch here in Chicago... I'm hoping more than ever that I get accepted to UCSD! Enough of this crazy cold!
arkel Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I'm worried too! I'm planning to fly from one blizzard zone to another blizzard zone this Thursday Hopefully everything will be cleared up by then!
ZeChocMoose Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Snowier regions of the country know how to deal with snow and should be up and running either later on that day or the next. Unless the storm is coming on the day of or before your interviews-- you should be fine. It that looks like it will happen-- taking an earlier flight might be in your best interest.
neshmi Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Yeah, everything is supposed to be done by Thursday, but you never know. Hope it all clears up! I have a short trip next week to Atlanta, I'm hoping this is all cleared before I have to fly too!
