micromajor2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 So I emailed one of the progrmas to see my chances of getting an invitation to an interview and I was told that my application has been reviewed and ive been placed on a interview waitlist. My question is has anyone else been in a similar situation? im glad its not an out right reject but is it really a chance ill still get an interview? Here is what the email reply stated: We have reviewed your application, and right now we have you in the Interview Wait List. We are waiting to see how many applicants we can invite in for interviews, which are required for admission. I hope to be able to tell you something definitive by March 1. There is still a chance that you will be invited in, but right now it is hard to say what that chance is, as we have many more applications to review. My question is has anyone else been in a similar situation? Im glad its not an out right reject but is it really a chance ill still get an interview?

How big of a chance is anyone's guess, including the adcomm's since they haven't reviewed everyone yet. Basically right now you are a strong contender - not such a superstar that you definitely need to be interviewed, but pretty good. They're waiting to see if any other superstars show up. Best of luck!
micromajor2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Its understandable considering how low my GRE score is, but I have a strong application if they get past that. Im hope to be given a shot.
Vacuum Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 They may only have a certain amount of funds to spend on flying people in etc., if your program does this. In the email it says they are trying to figure out how many they can invite, so maybe they are going to go back and wittle down the waitlist to the amount of people they can actually afford to have come in to interview. I'm assuming that number would be just a bit over the number of spots they are offering, so let's hope you are high up on that waitlist!!!

micromajor2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 What if the first round of invites have already been sent? Seem like im more of a "if we have more money, we can interview" ,applicant. atleast thats the way I see it
