ibrahimovic11 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 {help me}CS Master: Penn(CGGT) vs Brown (I've got these two and no other better choice) How to make a decision??? orientation: get a job in the states after graduate and don't wanna pursue a phd degree Penn(CG n' game technology, nonthesis-based): It is one of the few top 50 schools which have the master specialized in game. On the other hand, it narrows the type of job you can find. Though I have kinda special interest in game, I don't know the future of mine in terms of game or movie industry. Additionally, as the number of the admitted cs master students in penn is huge, some people regard it as a less valuable admission. But no one can deny that Penn has a good fame and you can enjoy the good social network of the schoolmates of Penn at work. Brown: the normal cs master you can decide it as nonthesis-absed or thesis-based. It gives less admissions than penn and the size of school is rather small. However,it is near Boston(a perfect place for finding a job in terms of cs) and Emma Watson studies there.(a joke~~ ) However, the number of graduates from Brown cs is such small that it's hard for you to find some schoolmates which may help you to some extent in companies. In my opinion, Brown is a better place for you to pursue Phd degree after graduation there, because it can provide enough opportunities for research and professor's guide in your master time. So please help me analyse it a little and make a decision.
nobody2008 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I would go for a general CS degree unless I have talked to some seniors from Penn under the Gaming program and they have assured me that the chances of getting a good job after graduating from UPenn.
