Hey folks,

I just checked the "application status form" of my Columbia application (such a convoluted process), and was dismayed to see both the "status" section of the form and the "at department" portion still blank. Am I alone in this position? Does anyone's status say that their application is actually at the department?

Hope that everyone is managing the ups and downs of this anxiety ridden process. If so, tips on how to succeed would be much appreciated :-)

Cheers,

R

I just checked mine, and while the status section didn't have any information, it did say that it was in the department. I wouldn't read too much into that either way, though.

Hope you're managing the ups and downs as well! I wish I had some tips to give you, but so far the only one I've managed to follow myself is to make sure that I leave GC at least occasionally and try to keep busy. Still stressed, though. tongue.gif

Hmm. I'm not exactly sure where you see an "at department" section. When I log in, and click "Check Your Application" on the right hand corner, all I see is "Application Status: Submitted. Congratulations, _____! All required questions have been completed and your Application has been successfully submitted."

Katie1421, thanks for the insight, encouragement, and advice wink.gif

mjbart, if you go to the section named downloaded forms, then click on application status form, this will give you your most up to date application status. as I said, it is so so convoluted angry.gif

Thanks for the heads up. Mine says it's at the department as well, but as Katie said, I wouldn't read anything into it - I highly doubt the order the department receives apps has anything to do with odds of acceptance.

As an applicant to Columbia last year, we had a similar discussion. Our conclusion at the end of the season was - all the cryptic remarks on that application status thing really didn't matter.

I am applying to an adjacent department in Columbia. My status was updated only a few weeks ago. Prior to that, the entire sheet (the supplementary form available online, right?) was blank and untouched by adcoms.

At the graduate office, I have been told that different departments start reviewing applications and updating statuses at different times. I wouldn't worry. rolleyes.gif

I, too just checked my application and it says "Incomplete" under the status, and "Yes" under department.

Does anyone know why I would have this? Does anyone have "Complete" under their status?

LOL, I'm freaking out over here~

So, last week I got officially waitlisted at Columbia but the downloadable status form hardly changed. I don't know exactly why it's there. It's no use.
