I got an email a few days ago saying that the admission committee from UC Irvine EECS wants to give me a Master degree offer without financial support. I have to send them a bank letter saying that I have enough money to support myself for my master degree within two weeks. If I choose to send the letter before Feb 21, then it indicate that I accept the offer. I didn't expect the master offer decision will release so fast! Their EECS program rank 38th in US and I applied this as a safe school. That means this is by far the worst school I have applied for. I want to wait until other school offer come out (mid March/April??) but they want me to give response within two weeks.

Can I get any advice from here?

Thank you.

this is my personal opinion, and you might want to take this with a grain of salt, but i see that (accepting) this has tragedy written all over it. first, no funding. second, it's still early in the application season to hear from schools... committing right away doesn't sound right (at least for me). third, you still haven't heard from other schools. and last, you said it's your worst school?

there's no rush. if you are confident about getting in into other programs, pass this one up. or tell them that you can't come unless you have some sort of support from the program. who knows, they might throw at some stipend money.

I heard that for most of the school, they won't give financial support for master student. So, I didn't even bother to say that I need support in the application. Is that true?

I don't really know if I can get offer from other school......you know, things always happen. So, here are my two other questions:

1. Anyone has opinion on EECS program in UC Irvine?

2. If I say yes now, and no later, is there any consequence that I have to face later?

Thank you.
