Hope that helps! (i didnt interview for BN but Social) Thanks! I was pulling for Petrovich, she and I had spoken a lot throughout the Fall and she sent someone to speak with me at Society for Neuroscience. I haven't heard anything from them though, so I have no idea. When I look at my application on the Agora portal, everything was entered WAY late (we had lots of snow slow down all of our postal service here a couple weeks before the deadline) so i don't know if that hurt me in the end. It is what it is. I hope everything turns out in your favor though! Good luck!

I swear I broke down and called them like 100 times because my prof sent her letter THREE TIMES and it never got there (??) apparently. We had to email it. Anyway, they just made their decisions 2 days ago, not in my favor One of Petrovich's applicants had a lot of interviews though, and she only has one grad student in her lab so I think she's high on the priority list. You might want to wait a bit more to see if any slot opens. Petrovich was a nice lady and her brand-new built lab is pretty cool

A blonde girl, very pretty, interviewed there as well as at Purdue with me. I won't post her name. She didn't seem to like her as much. I hope a slot opens up. I thought I had an interview for sure, silly me.

A lot of my materials were late (even though I sent them on time). They never got one of my letters either until my prof had to email it to them 3 weeks past the deadline. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get in BC, hopefully you'll hear back from somewhere else soon! Do you know if BC's psych program made all of their decisions or just social psych? I haven't heard anything... Edited February 23, 2011 by neuropsych76

nhyn Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 In his email my POI said "the department decided that you weren't high enough on their priority list", so I'm assuming all decisions have been made. There were A LOT of applicants interviewing with Young - she's new, needs students, etc. And since Petrovich's lab (the physical lab, a wet lab of course) just completed, and my advisor whose 2 students are nearing graduation, etc., they are probably higher on the list (to admit students) as well. So all im saying is that they probably had to convene as a whole department to see who is admitting how many so that the lower-priority ones know how many they can admit Yea i'm a little bummed out but the other guy who interviewed with me was very qualified, I feel I was justly defeated

Yeah, I know tons of people had Young as a POI. There were a lot of super qualified people at the interview though. It does help a little when you know you were beaten by someone highly qualified. I haven't heard anything so I'm not sure if that's good news or bad news...
