ucla MEMS as compared to uiuc

please help me to decide between ucla vs uiuc in joining mems research program. both are known to be great with California nanosystem instiute starting up at UCLA. So. grad students there please give your feedback...

If the place where u live is important => UCLA

If the rank of Uni is important => UIUC

I heard that UCLA is in the nice place with a lot of entertainment and the weather is very nice too. But, UIUC is a small town.

If you want joy UCLA, if you want to recruit by a prestigous university as a faculty or choose your faivorite job after graduation, definetely UIUC (especially if you are going to work with Dr.Shanon). My roommate is going to join his group as a PostDoc fellow.
