They said that each department sends their recommendations to them on different dates and its not possible to check the date for a particular department. How about calling the EE office and asking them specifically about the Open House Day? They definitely must be planning for this Open Day, and so must have a tentative date in mind. Here are some administrative Folks @ EE department @ Caltech that might know the answer.
