cocono Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Is anyone familiar with Columbia's East Asian Language and Culture program? Does anyone know of any other programs with a culture and language component? I'd like to continue my language studies with my grad degree but would rather do so as part of a program. The EALAC program is interesting because you acquire language proficiency during and do not need it prior to beginning though I do have a basic command of Mandarin. I've heard of Monterey Institute for International Studies, but it seems their price tag may outweigh what their name carries, but I could be mistaken. I'd also be interested in language training programs for grad students? Not necessarily the competitive fellowships abroad but something where you can enter not knowing much and gain a working knowledge of the language. I will have a MS in Criminal Justice this year but have found my interests lie more within international relations/ foreign service and would like to make myself a more competitive candidate for jobs and top grad programs.
Byrd McDaniel Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I'm in the same boat that you're in. I'm not sure about the program, but I did apply to it. I am hoping to hear back soon...
