I'm afraid this will reveal the extent of my grandiose anxiety, but hopefully I'm in good company.

The Story:

I was sitting innocently at work, prepared to tackle my next assignment, when I received an email from one of my Masters programs with the most ominous subject heading: MISSING CREDENTIAL LETTER.

My heart immediately began to beat rapidly. It didn't help that I had been sipping on a Starbucks mocha drink, something I rarely do as I'm much too sensitive to caffeine (possibly related to a horrible experience with caffeine pills in high school, but that's a whole 'nother story).

Following suit with my heart, my mind began to race. But.. but.. I received a letter via postal service last week verifying all materials received. What is this?!

I tapped my iPhone, opening the email with the flick of a hand. Thank you modern technology for instant fear! It appeared that they are missing a transcript, which I am absolutely certain I enclosed with the rest of the application.

Crap. What do I do? I'm at work. Do I sneak a call? I couldn't possibly wait until my lunch hour, a lengthy 49 minutes away.

I snuck in a call.

The admissions office informed me that it probably hasn't been sent yet to the right people, that it still needs to be updated. Some may sigh in relief, but no, not PsyK.

What if they don't actually have it? What if it was misplaced? It's already past the deadline, so there's no opportunity for me to send it in again. Is my application going to be discarded? I only applied to three schools!

I needed a plan.

The Plan:

I've decided that next Monday I'm going to call Admissions again to ask if the transcript has been recorded. I'm not sure I could let this go and trust in the process. Would you?

On the edge of her seat,

PsyK

I understand where you're coming from. One of my reference letters got misplaced in the mail. I went online and saw that one was missing. Needless to say, I was freaking out a bit. I pulled it together, emailed the school and asked what was up. They thankfully gave me a week to get it sent to them. Quick phone call to my old teacher and it was emailed off and received.

So what I'm trying to say is definitely call and/or email to check the status of the transcript. Don't trust anyone until it is received. :o Don't be afraid to call. They will be able to tell you if your application is complete. I'm sure you'll be fine. It does take a while for the right people to get the right document. Don't fret, it will all work out. :)

Well, I couldn't wait, so I called them this morning. Luckily, they clarified why I was sent the email. I feel much more at ease! My transcript should be there. Phew.

I'm glad your situation worked out, too!
