All those who have been admitted for this program, can we discuss about what all have you guys heard about the program? What all factors are you guys considering to make your decisions? I am pretty sure that the program will be good except for the tuition costs.Did you guys get any financial aid or have you guys apply for any aids? I wanted to know the list of courses from which we can choose our technical electives. I could not find this mentioned anywhere on their website. Any ideas? I also agree with the sentiment that the standards were a little low; I actually got rejected from UCLA and got accepted here. Yeah, you are correct in saying that Cal now needs online admission acceptance. I got the official email of admit yesterday. Its purely an online process! You can watch all the videos that were shown at Visit Day here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BerkeleyEngineering#p/c/FAAAA03DDA21CCA5 And a .wmv of a "mock class" about a Netflix case study: http://coemediasrv.coe.berkeley.edu/coe/m-eng/Sidhu.wmv As you can see, the program really focuses on leadership and entrepreneurship, with emphasis on the business aspect. The structure of the capstone project will be different for every major, but generally speaking you'll be with a team of 3-4 people, seeking to solve some industry problem. Every professor talked a little bit about the industry ties that they had; these teams can jump onto existing projects or if they have compelling projects that address some industry concern they can solve. In terms of resources, every research lab will put an effort to provide the resources needed for M.Eng students and their projects. I don't believe they would ever give funding to students but the existing resources are definitely there for the students to use. What do you mean by the official admit? You were suppoed to get an email with the official acceptance and a link to accept or decline the offer. This is the official way the University deals with admits. I wanted to know how long will I be legally permitted to stay in the United States after the completion of the program if I haven't already found a job? In other words, how much time do I have to look for a job after the program concludes? You will have a universal 3 month grace period once you apply for your OPT during your last term.
