joynee Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 For those of you still waiting for its master's program, I emailed somebody and was replied "you may expect to hear from us within the next two weeks via email". There is little chance that I could get in the doctoral one, so I'll pray for the best for us

Though I might not end up being a sociologist, I am so grateful that I can go to my dream school

Though I might not end up being a sociologist, I am so grateful that I can go to my dream school I was also admitted to the Master's program and not PhD, but I declined the offer. Since there is no funding and it's not for the degree I was seeking. Best wishes to those attending!
gradschoolvoyage Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 For the MA program, did any one recieve any more info beyond the initial admit e-mail?
Karlito Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 So if I understand things correctly, those applying to the terminal MA are not eligible for funding? But those who do the MA as part of the Ph.D program are funded? Because I thought I might apply to a master's first to strengthen my applications for Ph.D, but I need funding...

Terminal MA programs are very separate from PhD programs. If you are admitted into a PhD program, there is MA level coursework and requirements that you need to complete, but the degree ultimately leads to a PhD not a MA. In general, funding for MA programs is scarce. Depending on the school and funds available, schools will tell you even in their website if PhD students are funded.
