I don't think it's that great in terms of ranking (as you probably know already). But ranking is not important in graduate school. The important thing is your adviser.

Why do you think their ranking isn't that great? I thought they placed pretty well in both the US News rankings (I think 8th when you exclude biostat) and the NRC rankings?

From what I know, it is a pretty big department with good resources and sound financial standing (both of which I think is important when you decide for schools.)
