Harris grad here.

Without additional information, it is difficult to say. If your policy interests are primarily domestic, I would recommend Harris - particularly in view of the funding. If your interests are international, SIPA has the edge. I don't know, however, whether the difference is worth $20,000 over 2 years. The international course offerings will almost certainly be more limited at Harris, which has a pretty strong domestic orientation.

Just out of curiosity, are you an int'l student? Maggie DeCarlo sent out an email recently saying they would be sending out responses between March 18-22. Thanks!

I completely agree with s33, with the caveat that while most don't get fellowships their first year, the vast majority do their second year, of which the median award is 21K. As such, this would bring your Harris award more or less similar to the expected award at SIPA.

You should definitely base your decision on which school offers the better fit in terms of your academic interests. Aside from domestic/international, where do your academic and professional interests lie?

Hi thanks for your input!!

Well my focus is largely in the area of monetary and public finance policy, so largely domestic in nature. Considering I will be taking large loans, what matters most is clarity on career prospects- especially with consultancy firms/think tanks (considering being an international student-federal jobs are ruled out).

Also do you think its a good idea to ask for more aid at this stage?
