Has anyone heard from NYU Polytech regarding any engineering degree admits for Fall 2011?

Polytech has the WORST graduate admissions department ever. They do not respond to email and they have students running the department. I had my transcript sent to them in January and they somehow lost it. Then last week, I had it sent again (and to myself as well). I got the transcript Friday and its been 3 or 4 days now since they should have received it too. They do not update their website. They hardly respond to any requests and they do not even pick up the phone half the time.

I have deadlines to make decisions soon and they said they would give me a decision by May which is too long. How does a school function like this? Granted, they are transitioning to NYU after being acquired, but it is no excuse to be extraordinarily unorganized. This in itself is a major turnoff for a school that thinks it ever wants to be an ivy.

Sorry to hear about that, hopefully you will get your decision earlier

I was actually thinking of applying to NYU Polytech first but then switched to SCPS. Not sure that was a right decision.

I applied for Construction Management program and was going to apply for the same program at Polytech but changed my mind b/c I wanted to focus on planning/cost management more

Graduate schools loose transcripts all the time. I've heard many stories, n that's why I wrote a custom covering letter, name and application number, and program I applied to on each paper I sent them.

All went in vain, URoch, dint recieve my transcripts at all for the program i applied. I called them up and made them accept unofficial transcripts

RPI didn't recieve my ETS test scores(Apparently they get it through snail mail) and officially lost it. I contacted the prof. who was in touch with me, after contacting the admissions office through mail and phone repeatedly. Completed it with an unofficial copy and screwing ETS over phone.

URoch gave all admits by the time I finished with the heck of it , and RPI apparently went on a early admit spree. I'm not hoping much. Tough luck with them, but what I found out was, contacting the department concerend or a prof, will work better than the admissions office because, admissions office will have to handle all the departments, and some small schools, UG and PG admissions.

Look for the department contact number. Few places have a seperate department Admissions counseller. NYU poly, is no different from other places. Good luck with you application
