  1. So I know I have been harsh on NYU Polytech for taking forever to give me a decision. Yesterday, I finally got a response with no email, though I was checking everyday. Out of the 5 schools I have applied to, I received 4 accepts. 3 From BME - Biomedical Engineering programs and 1 from my undergard major Industrial Engineering (IE) for Penn State. I feel like I am leaning towards NYU Poly because I can part time and still have a job. I know Stony is a good school for BME and they have been good to me and I am grateful for that and NYU has been on my black list ever since they rejected me for undergrad years ago. I appreciate Stony but I don't anybody can give any advice? I did the math and they come out about the same around 40k for the masters. Stony Brook is about 11k per year plus room/board/food ~ 20 k per year. NYU is about 38k for 30 credits and I can commute and still work. Time-wise NYU will take about 2.5 years to finish if I take 2 courses per semester. Stony would be 1.5 years min but will probably be 2 years for me because I dont have the bio or chem background. Stony also forces students into lab rotations which is what was appealing to me. But lets be realistic, theres no guarantee i'll get a job after I graduate and definitely no guarantee i'll make more money than I do now...who knows we'll see. Also, I have already accepted stony but there is nothing keeping me from backing out or trying to defer which is what I will do. Who knows. Please let me know what you think. I appreciate it. thanks!
  2. I am freaking out...well I was before...but talking to people seemed to have balanced me out... Here's my layout: I'm an Industrial engineer with about 3 years coming up experience in government/public sector. I am fed up with it because of LSS is total bullshit and a waste of time. My apps: I applied to MS industrial engineering at Penn State just to see if I could get in and I did but I wont waste time on that anymore. I am switching to Biomedical Engineering (which i have my doubts because I worry a lot) but it feels right. I applied to PhD/MS combos for the following schools: CCNY Stony Brook Rutgers NYU Polytech CCNY gave me an interview but ultimately rejected me for PhD but offered Masters. Stony brook did the same but gave me a deadline of this Friday April 15 to decide!!! Rutgers rejected me. NYU Polytech still haven't heard from. It's basically down to CCNY vs Stony Brook for masters of Biomedical Engineering. What do you guys thinks? Any feedback will help Heres the situation: CCNY - 8k vs SB 11k per year I'm from NYC so I will commute to CCNY and live at home but will have to dorm at SBU From what i've heard Stony is more prestigious and ranked higher than CCNY CCNY will take 3 years to complete (i forgot to mention i have no bio or chem credits) and Stony is 2-3 years I'm kind of torn because I dunno for sure which school. I am leaning towards Stony so I can get away from the city, focus on studying, more opportunity to score internships/jobs with company, and work with a better staff (although this is debatable because I do believe CCNY has a very good staff. The thing is I will leave my current job which pays okay money. I have saved some but its risky business in a sense. Theres a chance I may stay on a little longer if I go to CCNY just to get a few more $$. What a dilemma! Please help! Thanks!
  3. did you get offers from any of those schools?

  4. Has anyone heard from NYU Polytech regarding any engineering degree admits for Fall 2011? Polytech has the WORST graduate admissions department ever. They do not respond to email and they have students running the department. I had my transcript sent to them in January and they somehow lost it. Then last week, I had it sent again (and to myself as well). I got the transcript Friday and its been 3 or 4 days now since they should have received it too. They do not update their website. They hardly respond to any requests and they do not even pick up the phone half the time. I have deadlines to make decisions soon and they said they would give me a decision by May which is too long. How does a school function like this? Granted, they are transitioning to NYU after being acquired, but it is no excuse to be extraordinarily unorganized. This in itself is a major turnoff for a school that thinks it ever wants to be an ivy.
