So, I've got my first acceptance. In fact, I only recieved a letter from a departement saying that it recommeded me to the GPS. As far as I understand, however, I can consider this as an acceptance (I hope!!!).

Now I have a question regarding the funding. In the email they said "Should GPS approve your admission the official acceptance letter and admission package will be sent to you in the next few weeks. "

On the other hand, there is an information in the attached file regarding the financial support (some ammount was granted to me by the professor).

I wonder if this financial support information is final, or GPS can change it? Should I try to negotiate this now, or should I wait for the final letter? Any advises are welcome.

So, do you want more money, or are you happy with the sum given to you? If you want more, you are going to have to talk with your prof and/or the department. See if there are fellowship and scholarship opportunities. But if you are happy with the sum given, however worried that GPS will take it away - don't worry about it. All GPS does is approve the request submitted by your department, and send you the final, official letter on behalf of the university.

Congrats on the acceptance!

Yeap, same happened here. I contacted the supervisor and he made some more points clear. This amount of money is determined by him/her, GPS will have to send the official letter only.

You should contact your supervisor.

I understand that if professor agreed to give me some money, GPS cannot change this particular point.

My question, is whether GPS can still add something to the offer? I mean like tuitition waiver, for example... Or ALL financial decisions are made by faculty, and GPS can only approve them?

Can I try to negotiate the financial package after I get an offer from GPS, or is it final at that point?

I know some people succeeded to improve thier offer, but should it be done immediately after the letter from departement?
