rwhitne3 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hi, I just found out that I was accepted into the sociology program at FIU but I honestly don´t know much about it. I had hoped to go into Anthropology but was rejected by the programs I had applied to. I know Anthropology is fairly competitive but I don´t know much about sociology PhD programs. I´m wondering whether to reapply next year to other sociology programs at various schools (I wanted to be on the east coast) or to accept FIU´s offer. If anything knows about FIU´s sociology program, I´d really appreciate your input. thanks!

I know that the program is now titled Sociocultural and Global Studies and you get to choose your emphasis: Anthropology, Sociology or Geography. For me, it is a great program. I really appreciate the interdisciplinary approach, the international research opportunities and their areas of focus (inequality, migration, environment). I actually have chosen this program over UW-Madison, UC-Berkeley and others. I am really looking forward to the opportunity.
