Rhet Man Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Dear All: Oddly, I don't see a thread for this excellent school and program. I'm currently 4th on the waitlist for this PhD program, and would love to hear from any of those in front of me (particularly those who received the original offers). THANKS!

I'm currently 4th on the waitlist for this PhD program, and would love to hear from any of those in front of me (particularly those who received the original offers). THANKS! I'm surprised at how competitive this school seems to be. It's rather new. I didn't apply because I thought, "Meh, I've already got my back-ups." Seems like I would have been in for a rude awakening! Good luck on the wait-list limbo. All I can offer is to say that I met one MSU admit during a campus visit, and he/she seemed very excited about it. Phil Sparrow 1

Since you're this thread's only respondent so far I'll go ahead and ask...Excited about planning to attend or just excited about its strengths?

I was also surprised to not see any posts about MSU. From what I have heard, it's one of the top programs in the field. I'm interested in hearing from PhD admits, too. Best of luck to you!

Is "DRPW" another way of referring to the Rhetoric and Writing program? Not sure what the D and the P stand for.

I have not made a decision yet because I'm waiting on one more school to notify and some logistics to fall into place. DRPW is the Digital Rhetoric & Professional Writing track within the Rhetoric and Writing program.

DRPW is the Digital Rhetoric & Professional Writing track within the Rhetoric and Writing program. I see. As a borderline-Luddite (at least for a college teacher), it's going to know MSU has its diversity. I fall into the political rhetoric/peace studies realm, though I'm not sure what track that would be.
runonsentence Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I lost track of who asked, but someone wanted to know if the program is well regarded. Yes, yes it is. Especially for digital work.
Rhet Man Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 Self-serving BUMP #1. I don't see any comments in "Waitlisters Paradise" on this program and would love to know what the originally-accepted students are thinking, aside from "stamoci."
Rhet Man Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Bill-Hart Davidson informs me that his five new PhD candidates have been chosen. Am said to not be one, but Michigan State has been an AWESOME school to communicate with anyway.
ComeBackZinc Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Definitely a great new program, as far as I understand. Big commitment to digital literacies. One nice thing about them is that the school seems to have made a major commitment to Rhet/Comp, in terms of funding, institutional independence, etc.
