alexeipg Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) My primary interest is in education policy and I'm considering the MPP program at Brown. Do people familiar with the program have any idea what the faculty is like in terms of political leanings, specifically ed faculty (the website seems to be outdated as it lists Martin West as a professor even though he is now at Harvard)? How feasible is it to get a PhD after or during the course of MPP study? Would an MPP from Brown be a good way to transition into a PhD program, either at Brown or another university? Marty West is awesome and I'm sad we don't have him anymore. However, I think with our strong ed department (which offers a lot of policy-centered courses) you can explore ed policy a lot and prepare yourself for a future in the field.
alexeipg Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Thanks for the info. Do you find that most of the ed professors share West's (and Kenneth Wong's) pretty conservative perspective on education?
