Retake GRE Advice Please

Hello,

I am not too familiar with the app process for a MPP, so I need your advice. I just took the GRE and got a V 680 and a Q 800 with a AW of probably 4 - 5. Should I retake to raise my writing and verbal considering I will be applying to HKS and WWS with less work experience than others? Also, I will be attending a top 6 law school concurrently by next year. Thank you!

Those are great scores. I wouldn't be too concerned about retaking it. Focus instead on your resume, SOP, LORs, etc.

Chillax. I scored lower than you on all aspects. 2.5 yrs work experience. Law School should help you with HKS since they like dual degree peeps.

I agree with StellaHaiti2, there is more to getting into a prestigious graduate program. Your GREs scores are fine in my opinion and I scored lower in all parts of the GRE compared to your scores. Focus your energy on our SOP, recommendations, resume and other items for your applications. Don't let those who personally want the 97th percentile confuse you with their BS. Good luck!

Agreed with all the above posters - resitting your GRE is a waste of time. All your scores are better than mine, any concerns they might have with AW will be addressed by your law. I personally think AW is more important for international students where english is a second language.

Those scores are fine. My cumulative score was slightly less than yours and I got into WWS and every other program I applied to. Of all the factors admissions committees consider, it is probably the among the least important.

Your scores are fine! I got V670, Q750, W 3.5 and I still got into GTown, GWU, CMU. I think these schools are pretty good at looking at applicants wholistically, though I can't speak the the admissions decisions of the Ivies.
