Hi,

I have been accepted to both NYU and Columbia's MS Programs in Occupational Therapy. I am having a tough making up my final decision. I was wondering if someone from either of these programs can give me their feedback about their experiences of NYU or Columbia. Do you enjoy your educational experience with the professors, peers, and the structure of the program? Would you change something about the program?

If someone is accepted into both schools, how did you decide?

I still haven't receive my financial package for both schools, which school would you say give more financial aid to their students. ( I know that Columbia gives about 30 and NYU about 26 to their undergrads).

Hi! I have a friend who was in your exact position last year. I will message you about her.

Hi NgHoan

I am currently in the same position as you were. I have just been notified that I have been accepted to Columbia and NYU for OT. I was wondering what your final decision was and if you can give me any feedback?

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone. I'm in the same boat, and having a really difficult time making a decision. Both programs seem excellent, but in dramatically different ways. The schools' websites and videos give me the impression that NYU is very technical, and perhaps sort of COLD. It seems that they dot all their i's, cross all their t's, and hold their students to VERY high standards. Columbia, on the other hand, seems to expect a lot from students with the understanding that we are all human and under a lot of pressure. Again, these are just the impressions I get from their websites and my limited interactions with faculty at both universities. The more superficial factors are that NYU is a lot closer to Brooklyn, where I live, and Columbia seems to have a better reputation as a school in general (outside of NY; I hear conflicting things from NYers). I know Columbia OT grads who loved the program, but I don't know any NYU OTs. It would be great to hear a candid account of the program from someone who went through it!
