Hi everyone,

I am having a hard time finding many people who have heard anything from York University (Toronto). I applied to the 2 year MSW for fall 2011 and still have not heard anything back yet. I know there are others who say they have already been notified they are on the waitlist (as of 3 weeks ago) and so now I have no idea what to think....Is taking longer good? I'm nervous so I'm starting to read into the lack of response and don't know if it is a bad sign or not. Any York applicants out there who are also still waiting?

Good luck to all of you!

Hi all,

I applied to the 2 year MSW program at York too and I'm still waiting - it's driving me crazy! Myfile hasn't changed and I've even called the office; the first time two week ago they told me I would receive an answer by the end of the week and I didn't. I called again last week and was transferred to Gina but no answer so I left a message. I hope today is the day!! The twitter feed said waitlist went out and it looks like it did but I don't think they actually sent out all acceptances/refusals like they say because I haven't heard if anyone being accepted either. Good luck everyone - fingers crossed.

Hi There,

I received an offer of admission from York about a month ago, followed by a funding letter about two weeks ago. I applied to the Advanced Standing MSW though, which I believe sends out responses earlier than the two year program. I declined the offer online (and I believe you can also see your status through the same system). Why don't you give them a call or send them a quick e-mail? At this point it can't hurt any to follow up with someone!

Did you apply to any other programs?

Kurlee,

Nothing yet and you're so right about the vague answers. I did my undergrad at York so I don't know why I'm surprised by the incredible lack of accountability. At least 2 voicemail messages and 1 email have gone unanswered and everytime I actually get a person they tell me we'll have an answer "by the end of the week". I've been hearing the same thing since the beginnign of April and I've pretty much given up on following up with them - at this point it seems like they'll answer when they answer. Also, I was looking at past GradCafe forums relating to the 2 year MSW at York and it's pretty much the same story - no answers until way later than promised. York sucks large but I'm so desperate to get in!! If it works for you University of Buffalo may be an option - they've just extended their 2 year MSW deadline to May 16 and the program is pretty solid - plus people on here have posted results already so they already have points on York.

Good luck and keep us posted.
