Specialties of Mid-level Schools

Hi, I'm planning on applying to math PhD programs next fall and I was wondering if anyone has information on the specialties of mid-level schools.

US News ranks the top-ranked schools specializing in Analysis, Algebra, Topology, and so on... but they offer no information on lower ranked schools.

As much as I would like to attend UIUC or Rutgers (my current area of interest is model theory/universal algebra), I realize I need to apply to more realistic schools, as well.

If anyone could offer information on the specialties of mid-level schools (specifically schools researching mathematical Logic) it would be greatly appreciated.
